Yokohama - der Hafen, die Stadt

Yokohama ist eine wichtige Industrie- und Handelsstadt in der Nähe von Tokio. Mit mehr als 3,7 Millionen Einwohnern ist es zeitgleich auch die 2. größte Stadt nach Tokio. Der Aufstieg für Yokohama begann 1859 mit dem Bau des ersten Seehafens, der bis heute die Lebensader der Stadt darstellt.

Sehenswürdigkeiten

Trotz der relativ jungen Geschichte der Stadt gibt es viele historische Sehenswürdigkeiten. So bietet sich beispielsweise China-Town für einen kleinen Einkaufsspaziergang an oder wenn man lieber etwas mehr Ruhe möchte kann man sich im Sankeien oder Kishine-Park entspannen. Vom Marine Tower Yokohama haben Sie aus über 100 Metern Höhe einen wunderbaren Blick über die Stadt. Überragt wird der Marine Tower allerdings noch vom Yokohama Landmark Tower, der mit seinen fast 300 Metern im Hafenbezirk Minato Mirai 21 errichtet wurde. Von der Aussichtplatform im Sky Garden kann man bei gutem Wetter bis zu 80 Kilomter weit blicken. Das große Einkaufszentrum in der unteren Etage hat neben typisch japanischen Geschenkartikeln auch eine Vielzahl von Souvenirs im Angebot.

Museen und Ausflugsziele

Das Seidenmuseum ist sicherlich besonders für weibliche Besucher von Interesse, da neben Informationen zur Seidenherstellung auch hunderte von Kleidern bestaunt werden können. Im Ramen-Museum können Sie alles wissenswerte zum Thema japanische Nudeln lernen und auch einige Kostproben ausprobieren.
Der Nogeyama-Zoo ist ein eintrittsfreier Zoo mit eigenem Streichelzoo für Kinder. Alternativ gibt es noch den Zoorasia-Zoo sowie das Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, ein großes Aquarium.
